SLOT MACHINE TRUTH #1 - NOBODY CONTROLS WHEN A MACHINE WILL PAY

SLOT MACHINE TRUTH #1 - NOBODY CONTROLS WHEN A MACHINE WILL PAY

A slot machine is controlled by the CPU (Central Processing Unit) of which the Random Number Generator (RNG) is the only thing that determines whether a spin result will pay. Surveillance, slot attendants, slot technicians, managers, security, and other casino personnel have no influence or control over whether or not a slot machine pays out.

No one is watching the cameras, walking around, or otherwise looking to see who to give the jackpots to.  Security is not "tagging" people for wins as they come through the door. The only thing that will determine if you win is luck.

A LITTLE BIT ABOUT ME

A LITTLE BIT ABOUT ME

I provide consulting services to gaming stakeholders and the gambling public to educate on the real operation of slot machines and the dispelling of all the myths. As a consultant to both the gaming industry and the private sector, I help to design effective educational programs and materials to dispel the myths, misconceptions, and urban legends that abound about slot machines. These programs inform and educate gaming regulators and providers, problem gambling counselors, and the gaming public in the true nature of the design and operation of Slot Machines.

My consulting services are also designed to help all gaming stakeholders do what is necessary to ensure that gaming patrons have all the information they need to effectively control and regulate their own gaming activities. As a former member of a gaming operator's Responsible Gaming Committee, I understand the challenges that Responsible Gaming can present. However, these challenges can be overcome with an open mind and a desire to do what is best for the gaming public. I am a proponent and advocate for both my “Responsible Gaming Full Disclosure program” which proposes displaying the odds of hitting the top award and the percentage payback of each slot machine prominently on every machine, and my “Responsible Gaming Communications Protocol” which proposes the elimination of the usage of negative gaming words in the industry such as lost, loss, losses, lose, losing, etc. on ALL regulatory and operator communications media.

BEST EXPLANATION OF HOW A SLOT MACHINE REALLY WORKS

BEST EXPLANATION OF HOW A SLOT MACHINE REALLY WORKS

Whenever someone asks me how a slot machine really works, I give them this answer as it is the most direct and succinct explanation ever.

"A slot machine simply generates a series of random numbers. It looks that series up on a predefined table. If it matches, it pays out the corresponding amount. If it doesn't match, it doesn't pay."

That's it. Nothing else to it. If anyone tries to tell you different, they are either lying or naive.
